Not For Ordinary: 15 Days, 15 Spots–Only One You!

by Elena Wilkins on May 16, 2013

Remember our conversation from last week: Vegan is Not for Everyone? I believe the same goes for HEALTH–health is not for everyone, certainly it is not for ordinary people! After all, if it was, everyone would be doing it and doing it right. Am I correct?! See, ordinary people lead ordinary lives, eat ordinary, culturally approved, foods–McDonalds, Taco Bell, Olive Garden, etc.  It is only people like you (you have to be extraordinary to end up on this blog–you are thinking outside of the proverbial box!) who will ever realize that HEALTH is only for those who seek it and go hard after it.  Period.

While ordinary people, when they want to lose weight, seek out the latest, short-lived fad diet; extraordinary people approach their health with long term results in mind. “What would be the best weight loss program to sustain me for the remainder of my days?” is their thought process, as opposed to: “How can I lose 5 lbs in 5 days?”

Extraordinary people think about their present, future, about their children, about the impact their lifestyle choices make on the environment, the planet and all living beings around them.  Ordinary people–the masses–are consumers. They do not know and do not care where their food comes from; how much it costs to make; and they will never realize that fast food is really not as cheap as it appears to be–it costs them (and the rest of us) in more ways than one–it is heavily subsidized with our tax dollars; it gets them sick, so they have to spend money to get medical attention, and it depletes natural resources.

Extraordinary people eat to live; ordinary people live to eat. [click to continue reading…]

Just how important are good kitchen gadgets in my life? If I were given a choice between jewelry or a kitchen tool, every time, without fail, I will end up going for the latter… unless, of course, I already had everything I want in my kitchen ;) . So, men, who are reading this article, believe me, I am not alone in saying this: A diamond is NOT a girl’s best friend! A good kitchen gadget is more likely to be one, though.  Just ask my Husband  So, in today’s post, ladies and gentlemen, I will tell you about my 15 MUST HAVE kitchen tools, that I cannot live without and that you SHOULD NOT either.

#1 Vita-Mix

The king of all kitchen appliances. The Rolls Royce of blenders. The trusted friend of my stomach. A machine that makes me swoon, every time I walk by a demo counter, even though I already own one. If I were offered another one, I would take it… oh, and one in every color, please!

Washington Trip in Pictures

by Elena Wilkins on April 19, 2013

I am going to save up my “Lessons Learned From our Trip” post for Monday. Today I want to show you all the fun we had with our family. Sprout fell in love with her larger than life, loud and loving clan. She was the happiest I had ever seen her. Seeing her interact with her cousins, aunts, uncles and Grandma even made Hubby and I consider moving back to the green Northwest…

A week with my family in Washington was amazing! Sprout was beside herself–she was surrounded by loving cousins, aunts, uncles and her adoring Grandma. New Boss in my Kitchen | Raising Healthy Kids

March 13, 2013 MORE YUMMIES

She is only 10 months old (as of tomorrow!), but she is already taking over my kitchen. Normally it is pulling down towels, getting into the dishwasher when it is open (she loves to steal spoons and measuring cups and roll around the kitchen with them in her hands, pocking at herself and thing, as [...]
