New Year Resolution: Resolve to be Healthy (Green Smoothie Challenge Call)

A few of my readers told me that they would love to do the Exclusive 30-Day Weight Loss & Health Improvement Boot Camp, but they just can’t afford it now.  Life happens and it is understandable.  But not being able to do the Boot Camp does not mean that you still can’t take steps to improve your health this coming year.

While millions are going to make unattainable resolutions this year, whether it is joining a gym they will never attend after the first few weeks (and trust me, as a trainer I see enough of that happening every year), or going on a fad diet that is not sustainable, more than half of them will fail, and by March reserve back to their TV watching, couch sitting, potato-chip eating habits.  But I do not want it to be YOU!

This year I want you to introduce at least ONE good habit into your life, one small change that will bring a string of other changes with it.  I want you to start with baby steps, very simple.  Joining a gym is always a huge plus, and I would love for you to do that, but I want to start with even a more basic step–introducing one wonderful thing into your diet that will do wonders for your health–Green Smoothies!

“What is a green smoothie?” you ask.

Green Smoothie is a drink–it is a blend of fruits and greens, and sometimes other great ingredients that boost your health.  It is much like a fruit smoothie, only, in our case, it is all plant based with an added ingredient: greens, such as spinach, chard, Romaine lettuce, collard greens, kale, dandelion greens, etc.

“Why Greens?” you might want to know now.

Leafy greens are known as nature’s blood. And it is no surprise.  Greens are full of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is absolutely necessary for plants to grow and produce fruit. Look out the window… Go ahead! You see, green must be God’s favorite color, since most of our surroundings are covered with green grass, trees and bushes. And if God thinks that greens are so important, maybe we should reevaluate our opinion about them as well.

Chlorophyll make leaves turn the luscious green color and gets its pigmentation and oxygen directly from the sunlight. When chlorophyll (think oxygen) gets into our bodies it brings along with it healing—as diseases can thrive only in acidic, oxygen deprived environments. The more greens you can get into your body, the more alkaline it becomes.

So, greens essentially are your lifeline.  They also take only minutes to make but pack on a huge amount of nutrients, vitamins and minerals.  You can have them as a meal replacement or snack.  And the wonders they will do for your metabolism are amazing!

Examples of Green Smoothie Magic

Just a few weeks ago a bunch of us did a 3-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse.  Some participants reported in and here is what they had to say:

“I lost 5 pounds and feel good. My energy is improved and muscle aches much better. My skin feels softer, not a “side effect” I expected. I broke out on my forehead a little. This was my first experience with green smoothies. I’m really glad I did it. ~T”

And here are some results from previous challenges:

  • I lost 9.6 lbs! I’m definitely sticking with the smoothies on a daily basis for breakfast and probably most lunches and starting next Thursday, Thursday’s will be entirely a smoothie day.
  • My skin is looking better. I have noticed the last couple of days it looks a little more elastic and not so tight in my face.
  • Thanks for all the encouragement! I lost 4 lbs.  I am now more resolved to eat healthier.
  • The inexplicable dry patches on my body are healing themselves marvelously (my lips, my feet, my elbows, even a patch on my shoulder).  The blemishes on my face are also healing up. My hands are softer than I can remember them being in ages. I’ve always eaten a fairly healthy diet, but this cleanse has been a great jump start to eating even healthier.
  • I observed how I felt more energized, slept better, was less irritable and felt cleaner. I am also less bloated in my stomach and not suffering with bouts of gas, as I was before this cleanse.
  • I loved your recipes! I wasn’t doing the challenge to lose weight, but I did lose 4 lbs!
  • I lost 10 lbs and my knees do not hurt anymore!

The list goes on.  But this should give you an idea that greens really do have special power.

New Year Challenge

If haven’t had a green smoothie at all, or if you don’t drink them on a regular basis, I would love to challenge you to do something about it this year, starting January 1st.  There are two options:

  1. Start off the year with a green smoothie cleanse–it can be 2,3, 5 days or longer; or
  2. Start drinking at least one-two green smoothies a day, along with your regular food intake, for at least 30 days and feel the difference!

The changes that will transpire in your body and the energy level will be amazing, not to mention that elimination (ahem ;) ) will be amazing–trust me you do want to get toxins out of your body.  No one likes a backed up sewage system, so why should you live with one? Whichever option you choose, you have nothing to lose, and a whole lot of well-being to gain.  I have a plan to help you along.

What Do I Need?

You will need very few things:

  • Blender
  • Fruits and Greens, and
  • Life on Greens e-book, which has over 60 recipes! instructions and a list of ingredients you will need for the cleanse

It’s that simple!

To make it fun and make sure that are constantly plugged in with the others who are doing the cleanse, or just drinking daily green smoothies.  I have created a private Facebook Group, where we will chat daily, share tips, struggles and even more recipes, to help each other.

    I have been wanting to do a green flush soon, but I think I’m going to start right after Christmas, as I will be back at work after New Year’s and I’d rather be able to stay home while I detox.  Thanks for the motivation and guidance!
