Sweat Equity & Vegan Recipes

What’s an instant measure of success for you when you work out?  For me it is sweating.  “Yeeck!  Gross!” you think.  But is it really?

When we are in motion our body temperature goes up so we cool off by sweating.  If we did not sweat we would be in a big heap of trouble.

When we sweat we also help our bodies push toxins out.  Double benefit!

In my classes we work hard.  Just to show you how hard, here are snaps of me I had taken last week after YogaPump.  When I started the class I was completely dry.

Yes, it does look like I was supposed to wear diapers that morning, but it’s not what you think it is ;)–it’s just sweat.  My shirt was completely soaked through, save a little spot on my chest.

What is your measure of success when you work out?  Not the day after, but at that very moment.

Silliness aside, here are three delicious recipes for you, to help replenish calories burnt during intense workouts.

Mango Clementine Fruit Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup water [or one more cup of almond milk, I used 1 cup cooled rose tea]
  • 2 clementines
  • 1 large mango
  • 1 frozen banana
  • if needed, honey or brown rice syrup for sweetness

Tomato Avocado Salad

  • 2 large tomatoes, sliced or cubed
  • 1 large ripe avocado, cubed
  • 2 springs green onions, diced
  • 1-2 tbsp chopped dill
  • Himalayan or sea salt to taste

Mix all ingredients and enjoy!

Spinach Citrus Salad

  • Large handful or two of washed spinach leaves, torn
  • 2 tbs onions, sliced
  • 1 clementine, peeled and separated
  • 1/2-1 large ripe avocado, cubed
  • low- or non-fat Italian or Citrus dressing

Toss together and enjoy!

All these dishes help me replenish my body with nutrients after intense workouts.
