The last couple of weeks have been filled with longer days, a little bit more work, and a whole lot less sleep. So, a couple of days ago, I finally got my act together and went to see my chiropractor. I don’t know what I waited for, but I slept better than a baby that night.
Yet, I could feel better.
So, yesterday, keeping up with the self-care momentum, I treated myself to an hour long dip tissue massage. Sounds like a dream. Right? However, if you’ve ever had one of those, you know that they can leave it a tad sore, and feeling like you are detoxing a whole lot.
“Drink lots of liquids,” said my chiropractor, after the adjustment.
“Drink lots of liquids,” said the masseuse, after my deep tissue massage.
So I did.
Some believe that we push out more toxins than usual after an adjustment or a massage, so, drinking more water would help to flush those toxins out. Whether it is so or not, I don’t know. I haven’t searched for science on it. But an extra glass of water never hurt anyone.
Or an extra glass of green juice.
So, I drank more water, and had a couple of servings of green juices, thanks to my newly acquired slow masticating Omega juicer.
Courtesy of my thirst, today you get three detox green juice recipes for the price of one :).
- 7 leaves Romaine lettuce
- 1 cored Granny Smith apple
- 3 stalks celery
- Juice using a low speed masticating juicer, like Omega J8006
All three of the recipes are extra delicious, and will certainly help you detox, since greens are great for healing and flushing toxins out.
I use the smallest amount of fruit possible in green juice recipe, to keep sugar down, while making juices taste amazing. Some greens almost beg to be sweetened, because they are bitter, but oh so good for our health.
Carrot tops are on that list. They provide vitamins A, B6, C and K, folate, manganese, niacin, potassium and thiamin (and probably much more than that). They are more bitter than other greens, but that’s a good sign, because they are that much more potent in detoxing our bodies.
- carrot greens of 5 carrots
- ½ Fuji apple
- 3 stalks celery
- Juice using a low speed masticating juicer, like Omega J8006
Celery–a perfect carrier of nutrition, is another one of my juicing favorites. The antioxidant support we get from it has been shown to help protect us against unwanted oxidative damage to our cells, blood vessels, and organ systems.
- ½ Pink Lady Apples
- 3 celery stalks
- 2 cups spinach
- 1 cup green grapes
- Juice using a low speed masticating juicer, like Omega J8006
I enjoyed every single drop of each of these juices, and am looking for more ways to help my body tick and tock, without skipping a beat, so, if you have favorite green juice recipes, or favorite detox tips and tricks, let me have ’em! Leave a comment!
